- The recent 2010 Summer Tour has ended and I thought it would be a great opportunity to ask you to send us your photos from the shows you've seen. Please also send any scans of tickets, set lists and backstage passes you may have. Also, if you have any photos of the late 2007 and 2009 tour posters, I encourage you to send those in as well.

Now for some Tool updates: Adam, Danny & Justin have been busy writing the next Tool album, but they're still a ways off from being finished. Don't expect much info on that until 2011. Justin and his longtime girlfriend Shelee tied the knot recently and Maynard also got engaged. Adam has been working with Steve Niles on a comic series featuring an X-Files/30 Days of Night crossover. The first of six issues is out now. Maynard has prepared another batch of music for his Puscifer project that is featured on the wine documentary "Blood Into Wine." It will be released on September 7th. Something is happening with A Perfect Circle. Stay tuned... -EyeChakra

- Okay, it's been a bit embarrasing how rusty we've let this site get. I think we're back on our horse, and working as a team again. We finally got the 2009 shows up, at least those that have been confirmed. If you have any other rumored dates, let us know. There is some talk of a St. Paul, Minnesota show, but no firm date yet, so we left it off. For now. Also, in the embarrasing category, we finally fixed a bug which was jumbling up the shows in the tour date listing. Sorry we let that go on so long. In other news, we are working on a fresh layout for the new tour. It should come with some other improvements as well, but it's still pretty early. Here's hoping Tool comes to a town near you (and me). -Strates

Maynard on Film (again) as Dog Walker.
I found it on FMQB Industry Radio News.

Tool's Maynard James Keenan and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park both have cameos in the new film Crank: High Voltage, which opens next Friday, April 17. According to reports, Bennington (who appeared in the first Crank film) has a run-in with Jason Statham's Chev at a horse track, while Keenan plays a dog walker who also encounters Chev. Mike Patton of Faith No More fame produced the soundtrack for the flick.

- Last night marked the final show of the "10,000 Days Tour" at The Pearl in Las Vegas. Before the last song (Vicarious) Maynard announced that this would be the last show for this album, but definitely not their last show ever. So for those of you who thought this might be the end, now you can rest a little easier knowing there will be more opportunities to see them again somewhere down the road. Sorry to those who were hoping to see them again soon. It looks like you might have to wait awhile...

In other news, the Vicarious DVD (which was confirmed to not have any live footage) comes out here in the U.S. on Tuesday (the 18th) so be sure to pick that up. The DVD includes the long awaited video for Vicarious, commentary by comedian David Cross, and an in-depth look behind the making of the video. The packaging is extraordinary and it just might be their best music video so far! -EyeChakra

Amazon has more information about the Vicarious DVD coming next month, including the DVD cover image and some early reviews. Leroy Jenkins writes: "I got this early by having ties with the recording industry and was simply blown away. The packaging is pure art. Adam Jones and Alex Grey collaborated perfectly on the artwork on the package as well as the music video images. The music video itself has an extra 3 minutes added to the original cd version of "Vicarious". In addition, there is a live recording of "Vicarious" and "Swamp Song" from the April 28, 2007 show at the Pearl theater in Las Vegas, NV. This is the first time Tool has ever released live video recordings from their live shows. This is a must have for all Tool enthusiasts."

UPDATE: The reviews have been proven to be false as the DVD hasn't been released to the press. D'oh! Maybe live footage is too much to hope for... -EyeChakra

Apparently we missed a few things while our site was undergoing maintenance: (Notice how we no longer have a splash/entrance page.) The new Puscifer album, "V is for Vagina," is now in record stores near you or you can buy it online at the Puscifer website. Tool recently released the final tour dates for this year, with no word yet on whether or not they'll continue touring next year. - Blabbermouth posted an update on Puscifer:

"Puscifer, the side project of Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan, is preparing to film a video for the song "Queen B". The clip is expected by late September. "Queen B" is the first single from Puscifer's debut album, "V is for Vagina", due October 30 via Puscifer Entertainment. Other songs set to appear on the album include a cover of the CIRCLE JERKS' "World Up My Ass", "Dojo" and "Cuntry Boner". "This is absolutely just put-it-on-and-move-your-butt -and-get-completely-out-of-your-head music," Keenan recently told MTV.com about the record. "This is purely body candy. It's meant to make you feel like I feel when I hear James Brown, when I hear some old Jackson 5 or Aretha Franklin. It's just that good feeling — music that makes you feel good. There's no math. Nothing wrong with math, but sometimes, it can be exhausting to be that forced, that focused. I'm a big King Crimson fan, but only when I have the energy to be. Sometimes I just want to hear Gnarls Barkley." Puscifer is comprised of a revolving door of contributors, including multi-instrumentalist Danny Lohner; songstress Lisa Germano; Telefon Tel Aviv's Joshua Eustis; Jonny Polonsky; Primus' Tim Alexander; model Milla Jovovich; Tool guitar tech Matt Mitchell; and dark ambient artist Lustmord. Keenan intends to release PUSCIFER's debut album without the backing of a major label. But while he'll fund the album's release in the U.S., he'll still need to license the material out for international distribution."

Stay tuned for more on Puscifer... -EyeChakra

Maynard recently visited the Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN to record vocals for the debut "Puscifer" album coming this fall. - Launch Radio Networks reports: TOOL intends to record some dates on its next North American tour for a live CD and DVD, according to Harddrive Radio. The initial dates for the outing have been announced, with the first confirmed show on March 15th in Las Vegas. Although TOOL tapes all its live shows, drummer Danny Carey told Launch that the band doesn't want to release each one as groups like Pearl Jam have done. "I doubt if we'll go that far with it, but we'll definitely be releasing some live DVDs and specific concerts that we feel strongly about," he said. "I think that's just a cooler way to do it. Pick the best stuff instead of just flood the market with a bunch of mediocre crap (laughs). No one can be their best every night. It's great that people may want all that, you know, if they're real hardcore fans, but I don't know, I think quality rather than quantity is a lot more important way to go." -EyeChakra

01/23/07 01:04 PM

- Alright. We just uploaded a huge update to the site. Lots of new features and fixes to problems that have been festering for a while now. Of course, in the process of fixing the old problems, we created new ones. These will be fixed, in a much shorter time frame, like tonight if we can.

Here is a list of the major changes that have been implemented.

-- New photo album
-- Organized Song Stats
-- Improved image organization
-- Changed colors of postponed and canceled shows
-- Got rid of popup show info
-- Implemented thumbnailing with mouseovers for preview
-- Improved the administration utilities - I know you don't care
-- Implemented mouseover maynardisms and song notes
-- Added Setlist position histogram for each song, tells you when each song has been performed in relation to other songs.
-- Added about 26 shows and numerous setlists.
-- Added more than 1000 images, from all era's of Tool's history.
-- Added source information links to www.collectiveunconscious.org. (Thanks Galen)
-- Added RSS feed so that you can know when changes take place and what they are. RSS link is http://www.distortiononline.com/content/php/rss.php

We haven't gotten around to adding all the Maynardisms and Sources yet, but once all the kinks are ironed out, we will get that stuff imported post haste. Feel free to email us if you have any questions or concerns, but keep in mind that for the next couple of days, we will be fixing many of the problems that popped up during migration from the test domain.

It's always interesting to go places you haven't been before, and even in America that's the case. - Hello Tool fans! I'm sorry for the lack of news updates recently. It seems that news from Tool is scarce while they are touring, but there have been some noteworthy events recently that we may have missed. Currently, Tool is taking a break from touring after completeing their U.S. dates. They head out again next month with Mastodon for their European tour that will continue throughout the winter. It was also announced that Tool would be a part of the Big Day Out Music Festival in Australia and New Zealand, so our friends down in the South Pacific can finally get their chances to see Tool early next year. After that, they'll be heading back home for more U.S. dates in the spring, along with Japan and probably Canada too. There have been a bunch of live photos from the recent tour posted over on the Tool websites, taken by Camella, so be sure to check those out if you haven't already. In other news, Puscifer (Maynard's solo project) is opening the doors of it's very own website sometime this Friday. Maybe it will shed some light on the project.Go here to check it out. Maynard also released the official lyrics to "The Pot" on September 22, which have been added to the 10,000 Days lyrics page. Finally, if you have any Tool concert tickets and have access to a scanner or digital camera, we're still accepting them for the Tour Journal, so send me an email if you'd like to contribute. - An article has been posted on MTV.com today about the current situation with A Perfect Circle. According to Billy Howerdel, "We don't know what's happening. Maynard and I talked about it lightly. A few months ago, it was like, 'If we did A Perfect Circle again, I'd want to do this or that.' It was a benign conversation. I think we both entertain the fact that it could happen again, but for right now we don't have any plans to do it again. We're focusing on what we're doing now. A Perfect Circle is done for now." In the mean time, Billy has plans for his solo project due sometime later this year. -EyeChakra

We're not one to spoil the package for you, but if you're dying to know what the details are, you can find pictures in the forums. I will however "spoil" that the album has only one disc. Unless of course, Tool has something crazy up their sleeves in the coming weeks or months, but I wouldn't count on it. -EyeChakra

- Maynard had this to say about the ticket situation for the mini-tour:

"Many people are complaining about the sold out shows. Relax. Were doing a full on tour at the end of the summer which goes almost everywhere. And in the new year, well go almost everywhere else. These are just a hand full of warm up dates. Theres nothing much we can do to out wit the scalpers. If you have the patience, just dont buy the tickets from them. Just wait until August. Screw them. Believe me, if I could design a virus that would leave scalpers totally impotent, mute, and penniless I would. Same goes for lawyers. (I have a whole different virus in mind for mini vans. More on that later.)"

Thanks to No from ToolArmy for the info. -EyeChakra

- Yesterday, a translation of the Tool article in the French magazine 'Rock Hard' appeared on the net with some rather bizarre new info. In it, Maynard claims A Perfect Circle is over because they pushed that project as far as it could go. He then adds that he sees "APC in a system without labels, big budgets, marketing, where they could play and release new songs whenever they want." Also, they said that the Tool Live DVD is on hold for the time being, as the new album and tour are their main priorities. You wanted this information, and we wanted to give it to you as soon as the titles were in the hands of the printers (and there were no last minute changes by the band - hence, the temporary embargo you've no doubt heard about). Perhaps this will convince you of the titles being genuine. If not, I suppose you'll just have to wait to see for yourself."

Although any press releases are usually timed to coincide with the release of the record, there will undoubtedly be leaks, so those of you who scour the internet should be on the lookout around this time. - I've been receiving a few e-mails regarding the current state of the image gallery, and unfortunately I have some bad news about that. The truth is, I spent a long time working on it and its finished, but I am not satisfied with the result. I guess its one of those things where it seems to be going well until you reach the end. The main problem with the gallery I made is that its difficult to add new images to it. I assume that once Tool comes back, there will be tons of images to add, so this method wont work. For the time being, there will be no image gallery. Hopefully a solution will be apparant to me soon. If you have any suggestions, please e-mail me. Thanks for understanding. -EyeChakra

10/13/05 11:52 AM
- Well, the TA chat happened, but not without some problems. There was an astounding number of people in attendence, ultimately filling the chat rooms with garbage questions and flaming. There is, however, some news that came from it. Danny announced that they will not be releasing a double album and that the new record will be out in early '06, and hinted that the DVD may be out before that. Adam said that the pre-production of the new album's artwork is happening now. Also Alex Grey will be involved with the artwork on the new cd (im thinking dvd), and that a tour with ISIS is a distinct possibility. Last, but certainly not least, the signed Lateralus vinyl will cost TA members $100. (Remember, its an investment!) Thanks to Lachrymotion for filling me in! -EyeChakra

10/12/05 01:38 PM

08/27/05 02:43 PM
- Quoted from the August Tool newsletter:

"And I can assure you that there will be words (lyrics)... and lots of them."

"save for the fact that the turkey had TWO hearts, a little detail that I wouldn't be able to share with you had Axl's people convinced me to sign a confidentiality agreement"

"So, why did I bring up that Christmas spent with Axl Rose (Toolies and TA)? Well, I can tell you that, even though it might not seem to be the case, there's a bit more going on here than just grease stains from a secret burgers, vintage or otherwise."

Interesting. Could this mean Tool is releasing a double-album? -EyeChakra

08/21/05 06:35 PM
- Today, the audio page of the multimedia section was updated with a flash audio player. I think that this may help keep the audio localized so that other sites can't link to direct files and steal our bandwidth. Also, it prevents abusers from sharing the low-quality streaming audio or selling the audio on eBay. Check it out! -EyeChakra

07/30/05 12:17 PM
- Starting on August 1, you can preorder the Lateralus vinyl directly from toolband.com and toolarmy.com. They will be shipped to you before they go on sale in stores, so this is definitely the best way to get the sucker after all this time. TA members will also have a chance to buy an autographed copy from the bazaar.

06/23/05 11:28 AM
- More rumors spreading by music/video/book chain, Hastings, that the new album (or dvd?) will come out in August. Kat, of the tool family, has confirmed that there is no release date and that when there is, ToolArmy members will be the first to know. So for now, ignore any rumors about a soon tool release, as this isn't very likely. -EyeChakra

- From theprp.com: Toolincision? - wookubus (5:27 PM PST 05/26/2005) Rumors abound that Tool's long-in-the-works "Lateralus" tour live DVD has been christened "Teleincision" and has been scheduled for an August 16th release date via Zoo/Volcano. On a semi-related note, there is also talk of an as-yet untitled proper live album from A Perfect Circle arriving in stores through Virgin on October 18th. No official word has been released on either release as of yet however."

I have also of a rumored September 2005 release date for the new Tool album. We'll just have to wait and see. -EyeChakra

04/22/05 01:19 PM
- As you may have noticed, the first update to Toolband.com occured yesterday. This is the work of a man named Joshua Davis, who was contacted by Adam Jones in late 2003 about taking over all the Tool websites. Apparantly the new site is on the verge of replacing the old Toolband.com, so stay tuned for something that is looking to blow our minds away. Also, I have been told that the Tool logo being displayed on the new splash page IS NOT the new Tool logo, and is only something Joshua Davis created. -EyeChakra

If anyone has the audio to this performance, please send it so we can host it for everyone. I was told the show was spectatcular and it even raised over $100,000 for C.A.R.E. and the Tsunami Relief Fund. Not bad... -EyeChakra

01/12/05 12:27 AM
- Hello tool fans. First off, I'd like to say "thank you" to everyone who visited our site since its launch last week. We've had a great response and it looks like the forums are starting to see some activity, so if you haven't already, get in there and join in the tool discussions. The audio section of the multimedia page is updated with new songs, so give them a listen. I plan on updating that section every week or so, so be sure to get them before new ones go up. Not much else to say, except there's a new tool tribute coming out on January 25th, if you're into those things... Also, I recieved a cool link that I'm sure you'd all like to see. Peace. -EyeChakra

01/03/05 11:42 AM
- Today is the day we get to finally show the world what we've been doing these last months. It was a difficult road to completion, but we are very happy with the result. During that time this site went through a few site layouts before we were satisfied with this one. We think this layout looks great, and is much improved since distortiononline.com closed last summer.

So take a moment to peruse the site, join the forums, download some multimedia or just listen to just the bass of "Disposition"(click the logo at the bottom), but remember, the content on this site is ever-changing and there is much to find and explore if you look hard enough. There is still much more to come...

Welcome to the new DistortionOnline.com -EyeChakra
